Input text from paper draft Use the paper draft of the menu to input your initial ideas onto the document. At first, you should just type it in, then after all the information is in, you should add more information. After you have most of the information, you should set up the tabs and justify the section headers.
Use column break to place information at top of appropriate columns. This is found under the Insert or Format menu in most word processors. You should not use a whole lot of Enters or Returns to move things around.
Set document up for two page 3 fold flyer - The paper will be letter size (8 1/2 x 11), landscape format. Margins will be .5 or 1/2 inch. You will need two pages, one page for the outside, one for the inside.
Set text to left justify and tabs to right justify and size the body to 12 point. If you use an unusual font style, it must be readable for the average person.
Set section headings to center justify Section headers should all be the same font, size and style. They should all be centered, and they should not take more than one line in the design.
Design the front panel of the menu This should include the name of the restaurant, You are the owner or manager of the establishment, the address is to be a real address in a business district in one of the immediate surrounding towns. The telephone number is to be consistent with local phone numbers.
Design the inside three panels of the menu The customer should be able to see what is available at your establishment by looking mainly at the inside three panels. The list of the items should be in a logical order: For breakfast, you might want eggs, pancakes and french toast, breakfast dishes, side orders then drinks.
When you are done with this towards the end of the period print two copies, one to proofread and hand in, and the other to take with you to check over before next time.
